DDC and HVAC Automation Inputs and Outputs: What are they, where are they found, and how do you test them?

This presentation will introduce and clarify the different types of input and output data points and sensors commonly found on modern HVAC equipment, and DDC control systems. This includes RTD's, NTC vs PTC Thermistors, kW power and amp meters, pressure transducers, VSD's, digital/binary (DI/BI) inputs, digital/binary outputs (DO/BO), analog and universal inputs (AI, UI), analog outputs (AO), and virtual points. A brief review of the electrical signals that sensors generate will include 4-20 ma, 0-10 Vdc, 0-135 ohm, etc. Plus, there will be opportunities at each table to use DMM multi-meters that will test sensors and controlled devices to gain hands-on experience. Upon completion of the class, all participants will be provided with a copy of the Instructional Worksheet, and universal Lab Tasks that can be used in your classrooms and HVAC labs. You will also be provided with a guide sheet to build a test bench for students to learn about electronic sensors, inputs, and outputs. Level of the class is Basic to Intermediate.
