Presented by:   Richard Foster

Monday, March 25 from 7:00 AM until 8:15 AM, Napa B

The Teaching Zone Damper Systems and ACCA Manual Zr course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of zone damper systems and their integration with the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) Manual Zr. This course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, install, and optimize zone damper systems in residential and commercial HVAC applications. Throughout the course, participants will delve into the fundamental principles of zoning and the role of zone dampers in achieving energy-efficient and comfortable indoor environments. They will explore the various types of zone damper systems, including single-zone, multi-zone, and bypass configurations, and understand their advantages, limitations, and appropriate applications. An essential component of this course is the in-depth study of the ACCA Manual Zr, a widely recognized industry standard for residential zone control. Participants will gain hands-on experience with the manual, learning how to interpret and apply its guidelines and procedures to ensure compliant and effective zoning solutions. Emphasis will be placed on proper equipment sizing, airflow calculations, duct design considerations, and balancing techniques as outlined in the ACCA Manual Zr. Participants will also explore advanced topics related to zone damper system optimization, including control strategies, sensors, and zoning system integration with other HVAC components such as thermostats and variable-speed equipment. They will learn how to assess and troubleshoot common issues that may arise during the design, installation, and operation of zone damper systems. By the end of the course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of zone damper systems and their integration with the ACCA Manual Zr. They will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively design, install, and troubleshoot zoning systems, while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
