With ten years of Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Ryan Kiscaden is a national, leading expert in the de-installation and regulatory compliance of mercury-containing thermostats. As Executive Director of the Thermostat Recycling Corporation (TRC), Ryan has lead and facilitated presentations to state regulatory officials, environmental stakeholders, congressional leaders, and trade associations (ACCA, HARDI) impacted by requirements of mercury thermostat proper disposal.
Founded in 1998, TRC is an industry funded non-profit. Its membership consists of 31 manufacturers who either branded and sold mercury thermostats prior to their discontinuation in 2007, or produced devices that may replace mercury-containing thermostats. With a network of more than 3,000 collection sites nationwide, TRC has recovered 2.1 million thermostats, or 10 tons of mercury to date.
