Earn DOE Energy Skilled Recognition
Show others you have the credentials to install modern heat pumps
Heat pumps are quickly becoming the preferred solution for efficient heating and cooling across the U.S. They offer both cost savings and environmental benefits, and today’s models perform reliably even in cold climates, overcoming the old belief that they only work in mild weather. However, this progress faces one major challenge: a shortage of trained HVACR technicians who can properly install and service these advanced systems.
As demand grows, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has identified heat pumps as a key technology for improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. To support this growth, we need a workforce equipped with the right training and certifications.
Introducing Energy Skilled™
To help meet this need, DOE developed the Energy Skilled™ Recognition Tool.
This initiative highlights HVACR professionals who have completed approved training or certification in high-performance heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and energy assessments.
The goal is simple: help consumers find qualified, certified technicians for advanced energy-efficient upgrades.
Technicians who complete recognized training or pass an approved exam receive an invitation to apply to be listed in the Energy Skilled™ Google Search Tool, allowing homeowners to easily identify trusted professionals in their area.
To apply for inclusion in the Energy Skilled Google search engine, one must either complete a recognized training course or pass one of the recognized certifications.
